Britons less likely to be 'have-a-go' heroes. Well, it's no wonder really, when the news is full of stories of people who confront teenage vandals and the like, only to have rocks thrown at them, get beaten up or even get stabbed.

And worse, a young woman gets beaten with a telescope bludgeon and raped in the middle of a street in Rovaniemi and NOT ONE of the several witnesses did a single damn thing! Why not? Because they feared not only the telescope bludgeon but - more importantly - that they would end up charged with undue violence and taking the law into their own hands.

There is something rotten in the state of Finland.
